Making a Positive Impact on People with Dementia

Published On 10.28.20

Original Date: November 18, 2020

The coronavirus pandemic has created significant challenges for those living with dementia. This is especially true for residents with dementia in senior living communities. So while it’s important for all of us to acknowledge COVID-19’s impact on our personal and professional lives, we can’t forget our patients.

As dementia progresses, memories of facts and the ability to process complex thoughts fade; but feelings such as happiness, love, frustration, and sensing respect remain. The best “treatment” we have for dementia is socialization and elimination of boredom. Learn how to go about this.

This webinar will provide:

  • Evidence-based strategies for engaging people with dementia in a meaningful, person-centered way
  • Keys to creating a dementia-friendly environment and supporting older adult independence

We’ll be joined by Jennifer Brush, M.A., CCC-SLP, a Fulbright Specialist and award-winning dementia care author and consultant. Jennifer is on a mission to put the focus of care on the person’s preferences, interests, and abilities.
